Additional info/contents	Salutation was commissioned by the Japanese conductor and presenter Yutaka Nishida, who is a good friend of the composer Philip Sparke. Salutation largely follows the traditional march form. A short fanfare introduces the main theme, played by the clarinets and saxophones. A transition, played primarily by the brass, announces a key change and a second theme in legato, played again initially by the clarinets, leading to the traditional trio, which is then repeated by the full orchestra. Parts of the second theme return to the original key and the main theme, ornamented by the woodwinds, returns.
