Additional info/contents Franz Lehár's operetta "The Merry Widow" (1905) is a masterpiece of Viennese operetta. The plot revolves around the wealthy widow Hanna Glawari, whose fortune is intended to save the fictional principality of Pontevedro. The "Women's March" is particularly famous, a lively and humorous march that has become a classic of light music. Fritz Neuböck Jr. arranged it for wind orchestra and adapted it to the typical instrumentation. His arrangement remains a popular piece in the wind band repertoire and is performed at parades and concerts.
