Additional info/contents	This catchy work is a contemporary string orchestra setting of the southern folk hymn, 'Poor Wayfaring Stranger'. With its haunting melody and pensive mood, this grade 3 arrangement reflects the poignancy that early settlers experienced trying to survive in the 'new world'. A mood of contemplation is heard as the viola, cello, and bass parts set the underlying modal and rhythmic pattern for the melody. This then develops into a joyous, spirited expression as the tempo accelerates, rhythms become more syncopated, and the melody gets jazzed up.
