Additional info/contents	"Kizuna" was commissioned by Dennis Johnson, President of the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, for premiere by the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music Wind Ensemble (JAPAN) at the 2005 WASBE Conference in Singapore. As the theme of the conference focused on the artistic fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics, this idea became the central means of expression for the work. "Kizuna" is a Japanese word that describes a connection between people that leads to a strong bond. The work unfolds through solo passages that bring out individual personalities, while developing a strong sense of physicality through several remarkable tutti sections, the strongest of which concludes the work. The music blends Eastern and Western nuances in tonal languages that embrace each other.
