Das Werk besteht aus einer langsamen Einleitung, welche den majestätischen Segler beschreibt, und einem schnelleren Abschnitt (Vivo), der im Stile eines Seemannsliedes beginnt. Im Mittelteil fährt das Schiff_x001F_ schon unter vollen Segeln, bevor Motive aus der Einleitung wieder aufgenommen werden, um das Stück zu beenden.
