Additional info/contents "Non Potho Reposare" is a melody composed by Giuseppe Rachel in 1921. It is based on a love poem by the poet and jurist Salvatore Sini from the small village of Sarule in the Gennargentu massif and is written in the dialect of the Barbagia district in central Sardinia:

"Non Potho Reposare,
t’assicuro ch’a tie solu bramo,
Canto della nostalgia,
Non potho reposare, amore e coro,
Pessande a tie soe donzi mementu ..."

In the early 1950s poverty in Sardinia was very high, which led to massive emigration, combined with the hope of a better life. Sardinia has developed into a reservoir for workers who work less in the industrialised countries of Europe. Especially the mining industry in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany worked for the emigrants. Under these conditions, the distant cradle became a lover and the love song is articulated both in suffering and hope. Non potho reposare" reflects the strong attachment to the homeland and the region of birth, the Sardinian disease that is rooted in every Sardinian soul, and which affects the beauty and uniqueness of their country and their own deep feelings of loneliness. This also applies to sardines that have not yet experienced emigration.
