Programme notes: additional text

Zierer was a special representative of the Viennese operetta. He also has operettas which were composed from his melodies after his death. For example, the operetta Deutschmeisterkapelle (1958) compiled by Max Schönherr. This overture, arranged by Eduard Scherzer, is a potpourri overture and presents main melodies from the operetta of the same name. The introductory Allegro part leads, after a transition, into the famous duet "Wenn zwei auseinander geh'n" (When two go apart), followed by the duet "Ja, die Liebe zu Dir bringt mich um" (Yes, love for you kills me). Now there is a waltz song in the series "Heut ist der Tag - wo die Sonne in mir lacht". Another one follows, "If only it were only seven at last". Zierer as Deutschmeister-Kapellmeister is also pointed out musically, as the Deutschmeister Regimentsmarsch by W.A. Jurek "Mir san vom k.u.k." (Mir san from the k.u.k.) is also performed. Infantry Regiment Numero 4". Seamlessly, it merges into the repetition of the opening theme, whereby the overture is effectively concluded at the tempo "Presto".
