Additional info/contents "Vizcaya," like some of Vinter's other "lighter" pieces, was originally an orchestral work. Gilbert, who had always been interested in the national music of other countries, wrote this atmospheric piece, which depicts a festival in the Basque region of southwestern France. This rousing, optimistic composition, full of Mediterranean sunshine, uses three Basque melodies. The final section, "Fete Basque," can be played separately as a concert piece.
