The first movement tells the dramatic story of the witch Catherine "Catillon" Repond (1662-1731). She was the last woman to be executed as a witch. he second movement focuses on the famous court jester Girard Chalamala, who could really make everyone laugh. He was the last jester in Count Gruyères' castle. The third part is about Count Michael, who went down in history as a gambling addict and bon vivant. His mountain of debt grew so high that he ran away and never returned.
