Additional info/contents In Japan, a traditional festival called Shichi-Go- San (Seven-Five-Three) is held on November 15th every year to wish for the wholesome growth of girls aged seven, boys aged five, and children aged three. The composer imaged how a seven-year-old sister and five- and three-year-old brothers would go through various happenings, have fun visiting a shrine, and strenghten their bonds. The trumpet fanfare in the beginning describes the lively five-year-old boy. The charming and second theme by the Eb Clarinet presents the mischievous three-year-old boy. The theme played by the Alto Saxophone in the middle section depicts the gentle and pretty seven-year-old girl. Reflecting the meaning of its title, Shichi-Go-San uses s lot of irregular meters like septuple, quintuple, and triple time.
