Additional info/contents	Philip Sparkes' composition "Symphonic Metamorphosis" was commissioned in 2007 for the Sierra Vista High School Symphonic Band in Las Vegas. Based on Camille Saint-Saëns' Symphony No. 3 in C minor ("Organ Symphony"), Sparkes develops the central motifs of the original—especially the famous chorale—into an independent work for wind orchestra through harmonic, rhythmic, and instrumental variations. The piece begins with fragmentarily introduced themes that are expanded and transformed as the work progresses. The slow movement offers an expressive reinterpretation of the lyrical passages, while the finale presents a dramatic climax. Despite modern liberties, the connection to the original is maintained through thematic fidelity, sonic closeness, and symphonic structure.
