Definition/synonyms Das Theremin (auch: Thereminvox, Thereminovox, Termenvox, ursprünglich Aetherophone) ist ein 1919 erfundenes elektronisches Musikinstrument. Es ist das einzige verbreitete Musikinstrument, das berührungslos gespielt wird und dabei direkt Töne erzeugt. Sein Name geht auf den Erfinder, den Russen Lew Termen, zurück, der sich in den USA Leon Theremin nannte.

The theremin, originally known as the ĉtherphone/etherphone, thereminophone or termenvox/thereminvox is an early electronic musical instrument controlled without discernible physical contact from the player.
