Additional info/contents	Thann Castle, a medieval fortification, was first documented in 1145 and served as a strategically important seat for local noble families. After losing its significance in the 18th century, it fell into disrepair and was demolished in the 19th century, leaving only the moat. A local legend about an encounter between a blacksmith and the devil in the castle tavern inspired Fritz Neuböck Jr. to compose "Dance with the Devil" for wind orchestra. The composition blends regional history with musical creativity, offering wind bands a thematic enrichment for their concert programs as well as a challenge in their rehearsals. Thann Castle thus remains a historical and cultural testament that continues to inspire today.
