Additional info/contents	Neapolitan Holiday is, following the example of Mendelssohn's 4th Symphony, Elgar's In the South: Alassio and Respighi's Roman Trilogy, a thoroughly "sunny" piece through and through, thanks to the use of instrumental colors. The inspiration for this composition, which describes a holiday in Naples, came from a vacation the composer took in southern Italy. After the festive opening, a kind of serenade is played. As soon as a parade marching past has died down, the dancing begins. Neapolitan Holiday was commissioned by the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band of Green Hope High School, Cary, North Carolina. The premiere took place in 2009, a year in which the school celebrated the 10th anniversary of the opening of its new building.
