Additional info/contents	(Symphonisch Gedicht - Revised version) "Daer wierd gehouden een banket, het hoofd werd op tafel gezet" (there is a banquet, the head is placed on the table), this is a bizarre end of the song by Mr. Halewijn. The song tells the scary as well as fascinating story about the woman murderer, who is killed in the end himself. The information, which has been passed on all over Europe for centuries, was transformed into a symphonic poem by Gerard Boedijn in almost eight minutes. Boedijn regarded this work, with a very programmatic character, as one of the highlights of his oeuvre. After a crescendo whirl on the snare drum, the figure of Halewijn immediately manifests itself. The musician and listener lead through the epic via four core themes. All important figures or situations have their own theme. In addition to the hearty Halewijn### motif, there is of course the king's daughter motif in a contrasting theme. At a certain moment the princess, riding on the best horse in her most beautiful clothes, goes in search of Mr. Halewijn. In the forest they meet and ride on together. The riding motifs are very clear. As we now know, the end of this legend is a victory for the king's daughter, resulting in a festive coda of this musical work. A good seventy-two years after the publication of this composition, Molenaar offers a completely revised version commissioned by 'Kunstfactor' by Eric Swiggers. A composition that certainly deserves a place in your repertoire.
