Additional info/contents Since the piece is dedicated to the composer's mother, the piece has been given the name of the orchid species "Phalaenopsis". As usual for a classical overture, the piece has three parts (fast, slow, fast). It is characterised by a syncopated rhythm and melody. The middle part brings with the sax solo a very intimate and lovely theme, which is then taken over by the whole orchestra. A short intermediate section introduces the transition to the main theme of the first part and finally the final part.
