The work begins with the idea of walking up to and peering into a vast glacial canyon. It then picks up steam as one imagines white-water rafting through the turbulent waters of the canyon below. The folkloric middle section of the work evokes a sense of American natural beauty before one last romp through the rapids. "Glacier Canyon" was written in celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the All-State Junior Band and in honor of one of its original founders, Connie Kramer.
