Additional info/contents	The Big Rush musically depicts the "Gold Rush" in Alaska in 1896. We fly over the Yukon Valley and are enchanted by the still untouched nature and landscape, its mountains and rivers, before we encounter a group of gold prospectors on the Klondike River. The babbling of the stream, the men's hammering and sifting, and then, indeed, a golden shimmer in the stream. Word of the gold discovery quickly spread, and thousands of adventurers set out to seek their fortune. But the arduous journey is challenging. Only a few survive the crossing of the Yukon Mountains. Avalanches and storms, as well as raging rapids and difficult foraging, complicate the path to gold. In the end, the question remains: was it worth it? The Big Rush was completed in the spring of 2015. It was commissioned by the Stuttgart District Orchestra and premiered on April 18, 2015, under the direction of the composer.
