Additional info/contents	Perg is a town in the Mühlviertel region of Upper Austria with approximately 9,000 inhabitants. The name derives from the "Lords of Perge." From the 14th century onward, Perg's economy was shaped by the millstone makers' and potters' guilds. Since the 1990s, the town has benefited from tourism thanks to the Danube Cycle Path. The town's coat of arms depicts a silver unicorn, the meaning of which is unknown. Since 2016, a unicorn made of 1,200 horseshoes has stood as a symbol in the main square. The "Perg Polka" was commissioned in 2017 by the construction company Krückl, which has been in business since 1954 and was awarded the Austrian coat of arms in 2004. Composer Kurt Gäble has a connection to the region through friendship and his passion for cycling.
