Additional info/contents	Kenneth Alwyn is one of England's most experienced and respected conductors. He was musical director of the recent Battle of Britain Commemorate Tour and it was for that occasion that this march was composed. The Battle of Britain was fought not only by British pilots and ground crew but also by airmen of many other nations, including the occupied countries; fittingly the central section of Fighter Command (1940) includes references to national anthems and popular tunes of France, Belgium, Poland, Czechoslovakia, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and America. Naturally, the RAF March Past also appears and the use of the medieval plainchant Dies Irae is a tribute to all those who gave their lives in the battle.
