Additional info/contents The Kaiserjäger March, Op. 42, was composed in 1914 under the direction of Karl Mühlberger, who led the regimental band of the 1st Tyrolean Kaiserjäger Regiment in Innsbruck. The march, whose lyrics were written by Max Depolo in 1911, became a symbol of the Tyrolean Kaiserjäger and was included in the German Army Music Collection in 1933. From 1957 to 2001, it served as the traditional march of the 1st Mountain Division South Germany and is currently the traditional march of Military District Command IV South.

In Tyrol, the march is an integral part of the brass band tradition and is played at festive processions, parades, and folk festivals. Sepp Tanzer's arrangement for wind orchestra significantly contributed to its popularity and established it as a standard work of brass band music. The march combines military tradition with regional identity and remains a popular repertoire piece to this day.
