Programme notes: The bridge of Andau is a small wooden bridge over the Einser Canal at the Austrian-Hungarian border in the Seewinkel near the village of Andau. During the Hungarian National Uprising in 1956 there was a wave of refugees. In the Andau area alone, about 70,000 people crossed the border into Austria.
