Additional info/contents	The city of Melbourne celebrated its centenary in 1934 and held the "MacRobertson International Air Race" to mark the occasion. The first DC-2, PH-AJU "Uiver" (Stork), took off for KLM on 20 October 1934. Shortly before the finish line, the aircraft had to make an emergency landing due to bad weather conditions. The next morning, the whole city helped to free the plane from the mud so that it could continue its flight. Despite this incident, the distance was covered in three days, 18 hours and 17 minutes: a true winning performance! This programmatic piece describes the story of the start of the engines in bar 1, the flight above the clouds, the thunderstorm, the emergency landing and many other scenes! (© Mitropa Music)
