Additional info/contents	This programmatic composition describes the history and events surrounding the former Roman city of Flavia Solva. It was located in the south-eastern province of Noricum, today's southern Styria in Austria. In this work, the composer depicts the grandeur of the city, the beauty of the landscape, the hustle and bustle of the marketplace, the dangers there and finally the destruction by the Germanic tribes in the 2nd century AD. Flavia Solva was rebuilt into a flourishing city, but in the 5th century its inexorable decline began a fate it shared with other cities of the Roman Empire.
