Additional info/contents	"The God's Husband" is an operetta by Franz Lahár based on Greek mythology, which premiered in 1904 at the Carltheater in Vienna. Victor Leon and Leo Stein contributed the libretto, but unfortunately this work was not a success. Convinced of the quality of the music, Lahár revised his operetta twice. The librettists Julius Bammer and Alfred Grünwald left ancient Greece as the setting for the action, but this did not manage to breathe life into the piece and put it on the road to success. Even under the titles "The Ideal Wife" (1913) and "The Tango Queen" (1921), the operetta failed with audiences and critics and ultimately disappeared from the repertoire. Fritz Neuböck took on this refreshing music and arranged the overture for wind orchestra . In the concert version, after the clarinet cadenza, the overture does not end with a slow waltz, but rather finds a fresh and lively end with a recapitulation of the lively march theme.
