Additional info/contents	James L. Hosay's relationship to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven is a very personal one. The US composer first came into contact with it during his school years and was deeply impressed by it. Hosay tried to find out what made Beethoven's music so special for him and what distinguished it from the works of his musical contemporaries. While at first, as a young student, he was not yet able to identify this difference, he discovered with increasing age and his own musical and compositional experience that it was characterised by a special, deep passion. Tenderness, anger, tragedy, joy and sadness are just some of the traits that make Ludwig van Beethoven's music so unique. James L. Hosay captures these contrasting emotions in his work "Ludwig!" in such a way that you think you are listening to a "real" Beethoven. In doing so, one notices Hosay's great skill in mastering the style of the great master, while at the same time composing completely new music that is adapted to the special circumstances of the wind orchestra.
