Additional info/contents	The legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin tells of a stranger who rid the town of rats in 1284, but after being refused payment, kidnapped the children. Otto M. Schwarz set this tale to music in his composition "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" for wind orchestra. The work uses flute melodies, rhythmic motifs, dynamic contrasts, and dissonant chords to musically depict the dramatic story. The composition can be performed purely instrumentally or with a narrator. In the instrumental version, the music alone conveys the story, while in the version with a narrator, a speaker explains the tale during the general pauses.
