Programme notes: The march "Achterjäger voran" by Hans Handl is an outstanding example of the rich tradition of Austrian military music. This composition, by a renowned military musician and composer, is not only a musical work, but also a living testimony to the history and pride of the Alpenjäger Regiment No. 8 in Wels. Hans Handl, the creator of the march "Achterjäger voran", led a remarkable professional career as a military musician. In 1924 he reached a significant milestone in his career when he was appointed leader of the Alpenjäger Regiment No. 8 in Wels. This regiment had a long and proud history and was renowned for its bravery and service in the Alpine regions of Austria. The march "Achterjäger voran" was composed by Hans Handl and created as an expression of his deep attachment to the regiment and his appreciation for the brave men who served there. The music of this march is characterised by powerful melodies and rousing rhythms that reflect the determination and fighting spirit of the Alpine Hunters. Over the years, the march has acquired a special status not only within the regiment but also in Austrian military music as a whole. It is often played at military parades, ceremonies and other solemn occasions and reminds us of the bravery and willingness to sacrifice of the soldiers of the Alpenjäger Regiment No. 8.
