Programme notes: additional text

This composition by the Carinthian composer could also be described as a suite or musical picture sheet. As the title suggests, the composer describes in short but very characteristic movements his home in the beautiful summertime.

The movements:
I. Promenade is a graceful, moving movement in which wood and trumpet play the leading role in the staccato performance. The following

II Seeidylle is, after a short introduction, a slow and expressive piece for oboe and flugelhorn, delicately accompanied by wood and basses. Romanticism is in the foreground here.

III Evening Silence: This is followed by another quiet movement called Evening Silence in 6/8 tempo, with the tenors acting as soloists and a discreet accompaniment of wood and basses to ensure that the interpretation is appropriate for the title. The almost dainty counterpart of the flute gives this musical section a melodious whole.

IV. In the finale the composer changes from the key of F major to D major, whereby the trumpet blows in tempo alla Marcia lead brightly and solemnly to the grandioso. The orchestra plays the grandioso with power and striking bass passages to end the concert piece with the last 10 bars in tempo vivo.
