Additional info/contents	Persichetti's #"Divertimento", which served as the model for Ira Hearshen's composition of the same name, was Persichetti's first work for band, and still is one of his most popular compositions. The six-movement work was commissioned by the Goldman Band, and it was premiered by that organization on June 1950. The work provides ample evidence of Persichetti's mastery of band scoring. Transparent, soloistic textures alternate with rare full band scoring, a unique style of band composition for its time.
