Additional info/contents Walt Disney (1901 - 1966), the great magician of Hollywood, had a decisive influence on the cultural history of our century with his epoch-making cinematic creations. His work not only lives on in the memories of cinema audiences of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, but has found a lasting memorial in "Disneyland" (Anaheim, California) and "Disney World" (Orlando, Florida). Very entertaining original work.

Programme notes: additional text

Inspired by the captivating perfection and fascination of these two American centres of amusement and entertainment, the "Disneyland Suite" is intended to pay musical homage to the master of film history, whose animal characters (with human traits) inspired and enthralled several generations. The first two movements are therefore dedicated to the two most popular film characters of Walt Disney - the legendary Mickey Mouse and the graceful Cinderella. Micky Mouse, whose cute and droll nature is expressed in the solo of piccolo (and bassoon) performed in unison, strolls through the scene in a slow foxtrot tempo. The main theme of this movement returns, rhythmically modified, also in the waltz melody of the flutes and clarinets of the second movement, symbolizing the graceful nature of the Cinderella. Finally, in the third movement, all the actors from the cinematic Walt Disney fairy tales seem to have taken their seats on the Western Express, dashing through the prairie in a Quickfox rhythm, just as if they were on their way to new endearing adventures.
