Das Werk soll die Aufmerksamkeit des Publikums auf sich ziehen und damit auf musikalischer Weise um Ruhe beten. Deswegen hat das Werk einen 'Fanfaren' Charakter und eine grosse Tonreiche. As a tribute to the European Community this short hymn is intended for any public musical event. It is a concert opener which should draw the attention and obtain a moment of silence from the audience, be it in a musical way. That explains the 'fanfare' character and the rich sonority of the work. En l'honneur de la Communauté Européenne, cette courte séquence est prévue pour toutes manifestations musicales publiques et doit précéder le concert. L'oeuvre doint en quelque sorte attirer l'attention et réclamer le silence auprès du public, mais en musique. Ceci explique son caractère 'fanfare' et sa richesse sonore. Als hulde aan de Europese Gemeenschap is deze korte hymne bedoeld voor alle publieke muzikale manifestaties en als openingsstuk voor elk concert. Het is als het ware het opeisen van enige aandacht en stilte, maar dan op een muzikale manier.
