Additional info/contents	This work has become a staple in the repertoire of brass bands. Claude Smith is known for his wonderful musical arrangements of hymns. Trumpet and trombone trios open the piece, followed by a flowing rubato flute solo. The next section features a duet for piccolo and bassoon. Variations on the theme unfold in fugato before the full hymn is heard. The audience is invited to sing along to the hymn melody during the hymn. The triumphant conclusion with the wind section leads to an emotional finale. "God of Our Fathers" is also available for large orchestra and in a version for SATB choir with piano/organ, which is also suitable for larger ensembles. A crowd-pleaser and one of Smith's most popular works. (© Barnhouse Music)
