Additional info/contents	With this concert march, the German composer Ernst Hoffmann (1928-2016) wanted to create something very special: the piece should sound modern and be particularly suitable as an opening work. For these reasons, he decided on the title OPENING. However, it is not only the English title that exudes the scent of the big, wide world. The musical language is also international and reveals many of the composer's role models. For example, the striking theme at the beginning could be heard at an English or American military parade, whereas the second theme in 6/8 time and the melody of the TRIO are reminiscent of the music of the great revues and musical theater. This impression is also supported by Hoffmann's creative instrumentation. It is above all the special use of the saxophone section that gives the march a special shine, especially in the TRIO.
