During his conservatory years, Jacob de Haan played in a ska band. "Especially for this band I wrote a number. This melody has stuck in my memory. Many years later, during a walk in the park, the thought occurred to me that the number would also be thematically interesting for a brass band arrangement." Queen's Park Melody belongs to the category 'light music with baroque influences': The latter is a reference to the lavishly decorated statues in the park. "The combination of baroque and pop?
