Programme notes: The Symphony in G Minor by Robert Schumann (1810-1856) is an early, unfinished attempt by the composer in the field of symphonies. The work, written in 1832/33 with two performable movements, is also known as the Zwickauer Sinfonie (Zwickau Symphony) after its premiere. It remained unprinted during the composer's lifetime. The first print of Schumann's G minor Symphony, also known as the Zwickauer Sinfonie or Jugendsinfonie, was published in 1972 by Litolff/Peters in an arrangement by the Swiss conductor Marc Andreae.
