Programme notes: The composition leads into a deep snowy winter world. There is a dance in a rural village today. The people are happy, they sing and dance. It is late; slowly they start their journey home. The horse-drawn sleighs are ready and out they go into the beautiful winter night. The moon shines brightly, the stars twinkle and the snow glistens. The bells of the sleighs can be heard from all around. The ringing becomes quieter and quieter and the composition ends with a fading horn call (trumpet).
