Additional info/contents Venice was written in 1995 after two visits to the "city on the water" and describes in musical form all that a visitor begins to think about when getting to know this city:

The 1st movement is rhythm-laden and stirring, expressing the restlessness and hectic pace that tourism brings to the city. But the emotion of the beauty and monumentality of many buildings is also expressed in radiant passages.

In the second movement, the mood is completely different: the first rays of sunlight are reflected in the water of the Venetian canals, and the silhouettes of the old houses are still veiled in the morning mist. The fog slowly dissipates and one sees more and more clearly the desolate condition of many of the buildings. Sadness spreads in a dark melody, which increases in despair as it progresses: is there really no salvation for this city?

At the beginning, the 3rd movement is still marked by the consternation of the 2nd movement. Then, however, a positive mood builds up again in a clear line, which clearly predominates at the end of the movement and is intended to say two things:
1. the visitor is deeply impressed by the uniqueness of Venice -
2. perhaps a way can be found to save the city from decay for a longer period of time.
