Additional info/contents	The impetus for this work was a composition competition organized by the Lower Austrian Brass Band Association (NÖBV). The competition sought both a representative piece for the NÖBV to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Austrian Brass Band Association in 1998, and a required piece for the Austrian Youth Band Festival in Ried im Innkreis that same year. "Vivat …!" was selected by the expert jury as one of the two winning entries and subsequently became the required piece for the Youth Band Festival in Ried. The piece itself is characterized primarily by its rhythmic and dynamic effects and even has a slightly poppy feel. It is divided into three main sections and is particularly well-suited as a modern opening piece. The brief introduction presents the main theme, which is then continued at a rapid tempo in the first main section and interspersed with two different secondary themes. The second main section is kept at a tranquil tempo and serves as a kind of hymn. It begins in the lower register and is then led by the full orchestra to a highly emotional and dynamic climax. The brief, soloistic interlude returns to the initial idea and can be seen as a reprise of the first section, featuring up to six independent voice leading sections and five different percussion rhythms simultaneously. The concise ending offers a small harmonic surprise and concludes with a powerful final chord, intended to underscore the somewhat exuberant character of this composition.
