Additional info/contents	The tale The Idol of the Flies by Jane Rice is a classic of horror literature. It is the story of a child who, in an incredible series of cruel actions, persecutes those around him. In order to get the evil one's backup for his actions, Pruitt - this is the name of the child - invokes a rudimentary idol with the appearance of a fly. The god, so eagerly invoked by the child finally shows himself: it is Beelzebub, the prince of devils, who does not indulge himself to take possession of the child's soul. The composer has chosen not to reproduce in music the contents of the tale, but to create its archaic and mysterious atmosphere. Like many other horror classics, the setting, and the atmosphere of the telling are more important than the contents of the tale itself.
