Programme notes: additional text

The first movement is entitled "mischievous". The soloist "cheekily" states a high-spirited, sonorous theme, which is immediately taken up by the orchestra and elaborately shaped. Once again, one can admire Hütten's great art of effective instrumentation. Typical of Hütten is also the frequent, rapidly following change of meter, which also distinguishes this composition.
"Amoroso" and "singing" are the specifications for the second movement. Right from the first bar, the soloist is able to show emotional strength and artistic creativity; after a few bars, the woodwinds are delicately added, and a fairytale-like mood of particularly pronounced beauty is built up. The mood is further developed with a great deal of introduction, and gradually and carefully the whole orchestra joins in.
The third, "fast" movement could be entitled "Fröhlicher Kehraus", for it is dance-like and conveys an unadulterated joy of life. The opening bars bring the invitation to dance, like the "stomping" at a folk dance. The theme, in which 2/4 and 3/4 time alternate constantly, is first presented in the solo part, then developed by the whole orchestra. Powerful fullness and musical richness of colour are particularly inspiring. Dancing playfulness is thus realised in an eventful way. The cadenza leads into powerful final chords.
