Programme notes: Rather close to the beginning of the operetta "Die Fledermaus", Eisenstein comes home and is furious that, thanks to his clumsy lawyer with the telling last name of "Blind", he has been sentenced to one more punishment then was necessary. But soon, Eisenstein is happy once more: when his friend Dr. Falke tells him that, instead of to jail, he's going to a masked ball at Prince Orlovsky's. But Eisenstein's wife Rosalinde is also in on the plan, and she likewise prepares to go to the ball.
