Programme notes: In old Austria, the emperor and the national anthem were very often present as a symbol of patriotic sentiment. The emperor's birthdays had to be celebrated and there were also a number of other festivities that had a connection to the imperial house. Time and again we find compositions dedicated to such occasions. Especially the anniversaries of the reign of Emperor Franz Josef, fifty years in 1898 and an unimaginable sixty years in 1908, triggered a veritable flood of dedication compositions. Peter Dienst composed this charming march, a rarity that deserves to be snatched from oblivion.
