Programme notes: additional text

In the west of the Carpathians, in the Czech Republic, extends the Beskid Mountains, with gentle hills, wide valleys, with hard-working and cheerful people. It is an unusual ethnic region with very specific beautiful costumes and a wealth of folk songs that inspired not only the world-famous Moravian composer Leos Janacek.

The folkloristic scene presented here comes from the treasures of this rich song. The first bars - a fanfare-like theme - finally lead with unusual harmonic turns into a peasant dance with a defiant rhythm alternating between wood and brass. The quiet part draws a peaceful, village idyll after work is done, before the basses come up with a new theme, which develops into a fiery dance.

Na Kotarech - a folkloristic scene, which describes the exuberance but also the melancholy of the inhabitants of the Beskids in a musical way!
