Programme notes: The occasion for the world premiere of the Polka schnell "Vom Donaustrand" was a jubilee concert on 6 April 1873 under the motto "Fifty Years Strauss Orchestra". They conducted works by Johann Strauss (father) and Johann, Josef and Eduard Strauss, together with some novelties, formed the programme of this memorable event in front of a full hall. The greatest success was achieved by the fast polka "Vom Donaustrande", which the composer himself presented to the audience with verve and verve. In the "Fremden-Blatt" the following sentence could be read: "Am meistern" the polka "Vom Donaustrande" ignited, a funny dance piece based on melodies of the operetta "Carneval in Rom" by Johann Strauss (son).
