The word combination of “babble” and “mouth” illustrates the idea of a language-loving and sometimes intrusive speaking behavior. It is a rather humorous term that is often not meant negatively, but rather emphasizes a person's characteristic qualities. The expression “chatterbox” is mainly used in informal contexts, for example among friends, family or colleagues. It is often used to humorously point out someone's talkativeness without necessarily expressing criticism. People who are described as "chatterboxes" are usually considered sociable, communicative and sometimes entertaining. It is important to emphasize that the use of the term "blabbermouth" often depends on tone and context. In many cases it is used without negative intent, simply to emphasize a person's willingness to speak.
