Programme notes: The Donauwalzer is surrounded by an abundance of anecdotes. One of them is the story when Johann Strauß celebrated his 40th anniversary as a bandleader with a banquet in 1884. A very original menu for the menu "in Ess-Dur" had been created. Among other things, "Schill aus der schönen blauen Donau" was served with potatoes in the "Queen's lace cloth".
