Programme notes: Salurn on the wine route is the southernmost municipality in South Tyrol (Italy) and has about 3800 inhabitants. Salurn lies at the end of the South Tyrolean Wine Road, about 30 kilometres south of Bolzano, and is the largest white wine growing area in South Tyrol. The Adige, the largest river in South Tyrol and second largest in Italy, flows past the town centre and divides the lowlands in two. Near Salurn, the Adige valley narrows to the Salurner Klause, which is one of the southernmost points of the closed German-speaking area. Only Zermatt, that is located much further in the west in the Swiss Wallis, is again barely 13 degree minutes further to the south. Quelle/Source: Wikipedia
