Programme notes: additional text

This Pannonische Suite is a mixture of the various musical styles and impressions of the Pannonian region around Lake Neusiedl.

I. "Marcia": The Pannonian March is a blending of Burgenland folk elements.

II. "Idyll": atmospheric picture of the Pannonian Plain.

III. "Finale": A rhythmically witty polka opens this movement. The trumpet register blares an announcement signal from the tower - a brief look back to the year 1741. Once again the main theme is heard, this time in major and after a brief deviation into the big band sound, the grand finale takes place.
