As a composer, Franz Sommer has distinguished himself above all in the field of waltzes and marches (more than 60 marches). His inspiring "Ramberg March" is a typical old-Austrian dedication march. It was dedicated to General of the Infantry Hermann Freiherr von Ramberg in his position as corps commander and commanding general of the XIII Corps in Zágráb (today Zagreb) and at the same time holder of the Hungarian (Croatian) Infantry Regiment No. 96 in the period 1883-1889.
